Diligence provided a stable home
Created comfort to form beginning
At first, a glance filled heart with thanksgiving
Skin to skin, love redefined life by enriching
Before time was preparation
No such thing as ready; a different generation
Zero guidance; gave best for nest
Informed to say byes to rest
DNA gave expectations
I forgot, I forgot, the power of imperfections
When did I sign up for warfare?
Endless waves of laughter,
Many, many, were the days β
Where I needed a Pastor
Raising a human is the hardest lesson
Mondays progression,
Tuesdays confession,
Wednesday discretion,
Friday fills head with unanswered questions
A love deeper than the sea
Unwavering, forever obtains no degree
Raise them with wisdom and discernment
Give them space; check if they’re observant.
Offer ears,
Listen without correcting
Reproof,
Reproof when they need directing
Occasionally, ponder days before them
Refuse to house thoughts
Condemned, also lost without them
Parenthood is hard,
Rewarding,
Likewise disturbing
How can the child you once knew
Mature unrecognizable;
How does a parent live through the pain of suicidal
Robbed of joy; mind desolate in doubt
Excellence presented a privileged route
Still lost their children,
An evil world,
Infirmities broke communion
Cautious of load,
Prevent parentification,
Assign responsibility,
Progressively posture vocation
Counsel them,
Reaffirm;
Imminent is the days β
Seasons of friendships will prioritize above you
Romantic relationships overriding curfew
Too lenient,
YellingΒ too much
Am I doing what I said I wouldn’t do?
I must keep going,
I signed the dotted lines, not expecting a thank you
