As a black person, I played my part in trashing you
I had my share of accusing you
Had my cry condemning you
As I sit and reflect
I realize how much I was misusing you
Though the elite venom you
When I think of that outside of you
Unable to deny the blessings that belong to you
I have pride in my birthland
My heart will always remain with the motherland
When I think of the resources that come from you
I realize how ungrateful I have been to you
God blessed me from a third-world country to inhabit in you
How can I curse the hand that shaped my future resides in you
Will always reject the evil that grounds you
As I see my surrounding countries
I can’t help but bless the land that dwells in you
Will never agree with the history you deny as truth
Never will expand the fallacy you claim is true
Foundation is ugly
Stole land from many
Colonized and invaded
Annihilated and degraded
Build your ground by the hands of the captivated
Programmed a system by discriminating
Plucked out minorities by incriminating
The objective was to breed out color
With degradation, substitute, and cover
Although many have pain because of you
Those outside this land are worse than you
Many lose their lives running to you
Not in favor of all those that birth in you
One day reparations will pay history with a breakthrough
For the resources and opportunities of today;
I hold my right hand and cherish the land that dwells in you.
